M2SYS and Fujitsu Partner to accelerate worldwide adoption of palm vein biometric authentication technology
Partnership enables the rapid integration and deployment of Fujitsu Palm Vein identification technology using M2SYS biometrics software
Atlanta, April 27, 2010 – M2SYS Technology announced today a strategic alliance with Fujitsu Frontech North America (FFNA) that will result in the widespread growth and adoption of PC-based palm vein biometric recognition systems. Under the partnership, M2SYS has added support for the Fujitsu PalmSecure™ biometric authentication system to its Bio-Plugin™ biometrics platform.
Bio-Plugin™ enables software companies to rapidly integrate and deploy an enterprise-ready biometric recognition system without the development and ongoing support challenges that are associated with low-level biometric SDKs (software development kits). Software companies that want to adopt the highly secure, reliable, and user-friendly Fujitsu palm vein biometric authentication system can now do so within hours, accelerating time-to-market and reducing software engineering and maintenance costs.
Unlike other forms of biometric technology that can produce inconsistent results due to skin damage, environmental conditions, age, ethnicity, or other factors, the Fujitsu PalmSecure technology uses a near-infrared light to scan beneath the skin’s surface to capture a user’s unique palm vein pattern, resulting in extremely low occurrences of both false positive and false negative readings despite dry, rough, or generally poor skin conditions. This advanced, contactless authentication technology offers an easy-to-use, hygienic and non-intrusive solution that generates fast identity verifications.
“In situations where fingerprint recognition cannot produce reliable read rates, our customers now have a viable alternative,” noted Mizan Rahman, CEO and CTO of M2SYS. “Software companies that have already integrated our Bio-Plugin™ fingerprint software can immediately begin utilizing palm vein recognition, without any additional development. This is the main advantage of our technology.”
“The combination of the Fujitsu PalmSecure™ technology and M2SYS Bio-Plugin™ offers a cost-effective, easy-to-deploy solution for users to integrate palm vein biometric authentication to their existing software and systems,” commented Vic Herring, vice president of sales and marketing for Fujitsu Frontech North America. “The removal of integration and support barriers will help more companies to adopt the PalmSecure™ technology, which leaves behind virtually no biometric footprint and therefore is much more difficult to spoof than lower-end fingerprint readers.”
