Emerald Systems Inc is a leading manufacturer of public safety oriented software including its jail management software, SENTINEL. With most county jails already overcapacity and understaffed, Emerald needed a better way to deal with everything from releasing inmates, to dispensing medications. It was obvious that with a growing, diverse inmate population, Emerald’s inmate identification method of Photo ID badges needed an upgrade. Swapping Ids leading to false release, incorrect medication dispensing as well as properly identifying inmates upon intake and release were just a few of the problems that needed addressing.
