Secugen Is Expanding Its Hamster Biometrics Scanners Series With Hamster Pro Trio

SecuGen has launched a new multi-factor authentication device. The includes an FBI-approved optical fingerprint biometric scanner that can read both contact cards and smart cards. The Hamster Pro Trio is a multifunctional 3-in-1 device developed for eGovernment solutions, employee I.D., physical access control, immigration processing, patient/provider I.D., and other purposes.

The Hamster Pro Trio

The device works with the Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC), Department of Defense Common Access Card Next Generation (DoD CAC NG), and the U.S. Federal Information Processing Standard 201 (PIV). In addition, the Hamster Pro Trio includes SecuGen’s top-of-the-line U20-A fingerprint sensor. It moreover comprises an Identiv CLOUD 2100 R chipset for traditional card scanning and an A.B. Circle CIM315F-01 chipset for contactless card reading.

The device is comparable in size and weight to the Hamster Pro Duo SC/PIV, according to the manufacturer, despite the addition of a contactless card reader. According to Dan Riley, SecuGen’s V.P. of Engineering, the Hamster Pro Trio was created to give integrators and developers more freedom in providing sophisticated authentication solutions based on proven technologies without losing usability.   5. In accordance with the CCID specification and the PC/SC requirements

  7. The USB bus power eliminates the need for an external power source.
