Patent-Pending Biometric Fingerprint System to Process Over 80,000 Inmates Annually at Dekalb County Jail in Atlanta, GA
Atlanta, June 22, 2005 – M2SYS Technology, a global leader in biometric technology research and development, announced today that the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office in Atlanta, GA has selected the M2SYS fingerprint recognition solution for use within its 3,636-bed detention center. The biometric system is integrated into Dekalb’s correctional facility management software provided by Digital Solutions Inc. (DSI), an M2SYS strategic partner.
M2SYS’ patent-pending fingerprint recognition solution called Bio-Plugin™ enables software companies like DSI to immediately implement a complete, seamless fingerprint recognition system, including a high-performance 1:N identification engine. The Bio-Plugin™ solution was recently added to DSI’s Offender Management System (OMS), made available to its growing customer base of detention centers throughout the U.S., and was quickly recognized as best-of-breed choice and adopted by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office detention center; the largest in the southeast, processing 80,000 to 100,000 inmates annually.
The fingerprint module allows jail officers to identify new inmates, authenticate visitors, track inmate movement throughout the facility, and verify identity prior to release. The DeKalb facility is utilizing six M2SYS fingerprint readers – one at both the male and female intake areas and four at release. Inmates simply place one finger from each hand on the reader, and their record is automatically displayed within the DSI application.
