Wake County of Raleigh, North Carolina selects M2SYS’ e-vigilance biometrics system

Advanced technology verifies inmate and visitor identities at county detention center using single fingerprint capture and matching process

Atlanta, June 1, 2004 – M2SYS Technology, a global leader in offering cost-effective, innovative, quality-assured technology solutions for law enforcement, military and private entities, today announced that it has executed a long-term customer partnership with the Wake County Sheriff’s Office to implement its e-Vigilanceä biometrics technology. The technology will be utilized by the Sheriff’s Office at their detention center in Raleigh, North Carolina. Specific terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The detention center version of e-Vigilanceä provides an airtight method to verify inmate and visitor identities at various checkpoints throughout a facility. During the enrollment process for new entries, booking officers follow an intuitive, user-friendly interface to enter simple profile information, add digital photographs, and capture two electronic fingerprint images from the individual. e-Vigilanceä then extracts the unique minutiae data from each print and stores all the information in a central intelligence repository.

Using a compact fingerprint sensor, officers can capture an individual’s single fingerprint from any workstation running the e-Vigilanceä desktop application. Through a state-of-the-art biometrics engine and optimized system design, e-Vigilanceä then conducts a one-to-many comparison search of the fingerprint against those stored in the central intelligence repository. Within seconds, the system displays the profile information of the matching individual or indicates that no match has been found. Officers are also immediately alerted of critical information pertaining to the individual, such as potential inmate threats or visitors that have outstanding warrants.

Mizan Rahman, CEO and Chief Architect for M2SYS, commented, “Wake County joins a growing customer list of forward-thinking agencies that recognize the immediate impact e-Vigilanceä has on jail security and operations. We look forward to serving their continuing needs with new and exciting biometrics solutions that enhance their law enforcement capabilities, increase efficiencies, improve productivity, and create a safer community.”
