February 16, 2005 - M2SYS Technology, an innovator in biometric technology
research and development, announced it has finalized a long-term
partnership agreement with Emerald Systems, a leading provider of web
based high technology applications for the public safety industry, to
integrate the M2SYS patent-pending fingerprint recognition solution called
Bio-Plugin™ into the Emerald JADE II Inmate & Facility Management
System. The technology is now available to Emerald’s growing customer base
of detention centers throughout the U.S.
Bio-Plugin™ enables software companies to quickly integrate a
complete, seamless fingerprint recognition system, including a
high-performance 1:N identification engine. Bio-Plugin™ eliminates the
system dependencies, extensive development, and specialized knowledge of
biometric complexities inherent to fingerprint technology SDKs. This
enables software companies to remain focused on their core products, while
establishing a new revenue channel with the addition of an integrated
biometric component.
JADE II is the only web based JMS System in the market today that is
designed for the management of inmates and correctional facilities. It
provides extensive capabilities and efficiencies of operations that have
heretofore been unavailable. JADE II provides full internet and intranet
(LAN) support to jail operations providing a less costly infrastructure
for managing multiple facilities. The program provides a full suite of
features and functions that make it easier to use, easier to navigate, and
save time in the training and cross training of staff.
With the assistance of a dedicated M2SYS engineer, Emerald rapidly
integrated Bio-Plugin™ into its platform in less than 24 hours,
enabling its use for both one-to-many and one-to-one recognition. The
fingerprint module allows jail officers to quickly identify new inmates
and avoid duplicate booking entries, authenticate visitors, accurately
dispense medications, track inmate movement throughout the facility, and
verify inmate identity prior to release.
Although running independently of JADE II, users recognize the
fingerprint system as a seamless component, making it very simple to
learn and operate. Inmates or other persons being identified simply
place a finger on the M2-S™ Fingerprint Reader and their information
is instantly displayed within the JADE II application. As the central
fingerprint database grows over time, Bio-Plugin™ can scale
accordingly to support the rapid identification of even tens of
thousands of records.
