Southern Software’s Jail Management
System, Jail-Pak™
Due to an increasing number of inmates and a decline in
correctional facility resources and staffing, software designed to manage
and track inmates has become a must-have in the public safety industry.
Southern Software has
been providing state-of-the-art public safety products since 1988.
Their wide range of innovative products includes a complete
inmate management software package, Jail-Pak™.
Jail-Pak™ is integrated with M2SYS’ cutting-edge biometrics
software, Bio-Plugin™.
Bio-Plugin™ enables software developers to immediately
implement a complete, seamless fingerprint recognition system, including a
high-performance 1:N identification engine. Bio-Plugin™ eliminates the
system dependencies, extensive development, and specialized knowledge of
biometric complexities inherent to fingerprint
technology SDKs. This model allows software developers to remain focused
on their core product, and alleviates the burdens associated with
maintaining an internally developed fingerprint system that is intricately
combined with the host application
The fingerprint module integrated into the Jail-Pak™ software allows
jail officers to identify new inmates and visitors, track inmate movement
throughout the facility, and verify identity prior to release.
To be enrolled in the system, inmates must simply place one or two
fingers on the fingerprint
reader. Then, each time the
individual’s unique fingerprint is scanned, their information will be
displayed. The system performs a
quick search of the database and returns results in just seconds.
If an inmate that has been previously incarcerated and will not give
any information regarding his identification or even falsifies his
identification, the system can identify this person by a scan of his finger.
The costs and hassle of double-booking an inmate or investigating an
inmate’s identity are avoided.
The software also allows a facility to continually track any
inmate’s movements. By placing
fingerprint readers at key areas and doors in a jail, the location of any
inmate can be quickly determined by the software.
Jail-Pak™ software integrated with Bio-Plugin™ fingerprint
technology increases inmate accountability, which increases overall jail
safety and harmony.
At the time of an inmate’s release, 1:1 fingerprint verification is
employed to positively determine the identity of the inmate being released.
Often, inmates will pay to switch ID bracelets or numbers with those
who are being released at an earlier date.
With biometric technology, this practice is rendered obsolete as only
the correct inmate will have access to his unique fingerprint.
Southern Software has deployed Jail-Pak™ with Bio-Plugin™
fingerprint verification technology to a multitude of detention centers.
The jails currently using the software have reported very positive
results with accuracy rates of 100%.
With M2SYS’ innovative technology, the jail
management software has increased operational efficiencies and bolstered
jail security and public safety.
