Interactive Business System’s Pharmacy Management Software, WinPharm
Privacy and security are issues of paramount importance to a pharmacy. Patient confidentiality is a huge liability and must be addressed as so. Also, correctly identifying patients is extremely important, as many people will unfortunately falsify their identity to receive medication that is not legally prescribed to them.
Interactive Business Systems has been providing hospital pharmacy drug distribution and control systems in North America for 30 years. Their
WinPharm pharmacy management software has recently been integrated with M2SYS’ innovative biometric fingerprint solution,
Bio-Plugin™ to provide the latest technologies and maximal security to hospital drug distribution and control.
Bio-Plugin™ enables software companies to quickly integrate a complete, seamless fingerprint recognition system, including a high-performance 1:N identification engine. Bio-Plugin™ eliminates the system dependencies, extensive development, and specialized knowledge of biometric complexities inherent to
fingerprint SDKs.
It can be difficult for a pharmacy to remain efficient while complying with HIPAA regulations. HIPAA Regulations state that a health care practice must secure all Electronic Protected Health Information and must take the appropriate steps toward the implementation of safeguards to reduce the risk of any kind of security breach. This is especially important in the pharmacy, where the most private patient information is often located and stored.
Authorized individuals can be enrolled in the system by scanning their fingerprint with a
fingerprint reader three times consecutively. This process usually takes less than ten seconds. After the initial enrollment process has occurred, individuals can be correctly identified as authorized by simply scanning their finger once.
Patients can also be enrolled in the system for a speedier wait time and more efficient pharmacy experience. Once a patient is enrolled, the scanning of their fingerprint can be utilized to bring up their personal information, including known allergies and medication history. The system will alert the pharmacist if any known allergies conflict with the medication being prescribed to the patient, increasing the overall safety and reducing the liabilities of the pharmacy.
Interactive Business Systems has an unsurpassed reputation for support, service and quality products. With the integration of a fingerprint module into their WinPharm pharmacy management solution, they have gone a step above expectations. Biometric technology added to the management software provides a pharmacy with the most efficient, affordable, and effective solution for managing a successful and HIPAA compliant pharmacy.
The biometric solution has been integrated in many pharmacies across America and is aiding hospital pharmacies in meeting safety and privacy regulation seamlessly and cost-effectively.
